  1. Email from Rusty:

“We live in an amazing community — our swing world!

The response has been INCREDIBLE on behalf of Pops. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to each and every one of you who has sent in a donation, passed on the info, posted on the net, and sent your good wishes to Pops and Mrs Pops (Lois).

I have been talking with Pops about five-ten times each day since our community fund raising campaign began last Thursday night. He is a completely different person than I talked with last Wednesday — then he was weak and listless… now (beause of all of you!) he is boisterous, laughing, making jokes, in sum… his spirit is back in full force.

Enough money was in from you all already by Friday for me to run to the bank and get money out for Pops to start attacking those bills. You will be happy to know that Pops and Mrs. Pops are now good through the end of the month and then some! (Again, thanks to you).

I’ll be going to the bank again this week and they can start attaching next month’s bills (again, thanks to you-know-who).

Please continue spreading the word. The crisis hasn’t passed.

I know you’ll love to read the letter that Pops sent over today to all of you.

From my heart, I thank you all from lifting back this man and woman to the land of “hope.”

    Swingcerely,

    Rusty Frank

P.S. I have posted some more webpages with info on Pops since the initial email of last week. They are all on my site and can be reached from the homepage menu bar at RUSTYFRANK.COM”

    LETTER FROM POPS!

To all our friends out there:

In the last nine years I’ve had the most wonderful time being the lead singer in front of the great jump band ‘Sompy Jones’, formerly the ‘Swingsession’ . While I’d hoped I had made a lot of friends over the years I had no idea just how many until I ran into a wall of bad health. Of course, I had to stop performing, which broke my heart. Every time the band went down to SO-CAL, Scott Lawrence (Stompy pianist) would bring back loads of cards and letters with good wishes for my recovery and showing how much I’d been missed.

Needless to say, we were overwhelmed by your response to an announcment in the ‘Lindy By The Sea’ newsletter published by our dear friend and head “Soundie Girl” Rusty Frank of our situation up here.

Because of you we are not waking up in fear every morning of being in the dark at night.

There are no words to express how we feel right now so we say:

    Thank You.
    Pops and Mrs. Pops (Lois)
